Well if these two questions have been on your mind, then you have come to the right place for the answers.
Nicki Minaj (born Onika Maraj) is a female rapper from Queens, New York (Southside Jamaica,Queens)she started out as a underground rapper in 2007 by releasing her first mixtape "Playtime is Over", in 2009 her mixtape "Beam Me Up Scotty" made Nicki a force to be aware of. It was her signing with Lil Wayne's Young Money record label and lyrical metaphers, that has made Nicki the female rapper that all of the rap and r&b musicans are calling for, for a feature. Not only does Nicki Minaj express her lyrical metaphers in her raps but she also incorporates it into her style, which she has called it: Harajuku Barbie.

Harajuku Barbie is the pharse coined by Nicki Minaj to express her form of style. Harajuku of course coming from Harajuku,Japan and Barbie coming from her being girly. Nicki has now made a brand for herself in the forms of fashion and her lyrics. She has done this by refering to herself as a Harajuku Barbie in her lyrics and by dressing in Japanese street fashion in her music videos. Nicki went one step further and began to call her fans "Barbies" as well. (So if a teeange girl says 'I'm a Babrie' then most likely she is a Nicki Minaj fan) On the social networking site "Twitter", there is a Barbie "community" or "movement" dedicated to Nicki Minaj, ran and organized by her many fans. (Their screen names have such names like "TeamMinaj(state or city or country) or something "Barbie" with a Nicki Minaj picture.
So there you have it, the answers to your questions. Now there is a clear picture on what a Harajuku Babrie is, and who is the Genuis or 'Barbie' bechind it all.
"Cause its Barbie bitch you can join the wave, I done penny, nickel, dimed I done coined the pharse" -Nicki Minaj "Roger That" by Young Money
